About

The solution is built around the RO system producing potable water while at the same time utilizing cost reducing strategies such as harvesting potential energy inherent in the system, solar energy to harvest industrial salts and flotation refining these salts in saleable product such as muriate of potas. All the savings are re-invested in the process in an effort to reduce the cost of the potable portion.

Potable water is sold to the client through a multi-year agreement (minimum 10 years). DDFS provides and owns all the assets through a turnkey installation. The industrial salts are sold to fertilizer companies which generates additional income. DDFS managed to reduce the cost of producing water significantly through addressing the energy and waste problems. Our Zero Liquid Discharge Reverse Osmosis system with Energy Recovery hydro system is modular, stand-alone, energy efficient and able to handle both inland borehole water and sea water. 

This current report is based on the improvements DDFS can bring to the South African Reverse Osmosis industry. The comparison for Reverse Osmosis system’s simulation was based on Total Dissolved Solids 5,000 ppm levels or 559 millisiemens per meter (mS/m) with very high silica levels in the feed stream to produce 1,000 m3 / day permeate.
