About Daniel

Daniel engineered the design and developed the DDFS Filter element, the technology that we believe can solve the water-energy nexus of desalination. His passion is in design and invention addressing the needs for potable water of the world, while doing a Master Thesis in Reverse Osmosis technology.

The supervisor for Daniel’s research was Associate Professor Ron Cox; Governor, Australian Climate Change Adaptation Research Network for Settlements and Infrastructure.

Daniel is a highly experienced multi-faceted construction and design professional with multiple years experience in the delivery of various construction types with a concentration on major infrastructure projects. His experience extends to large multi-use developments and specialized structure construction. His experience extends to developing creative and cost-effective engineering solutions for complex Infrastructure projects.

Having worked on a diverse range of projects, teams and environments has given Daniel strong management and effective leadership skills. these include: Construction Management, Construction Supervision, technical problem solving and management of teams from multi-culture backgrounds. Also included are engineering and construction specialists from Electrical, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, Waste Management, Traffic and, Landscape, Marine and Cost Consulting.

Career Highlights

Daniel designed an alternative reverse osmosis filter with the goal in mind to find an alternative solution to improve the energy efficiency of the current spiral wound reverse osmosis filter system, to reduce the overall cost of desalination and to also provide an affordable solution to the increasing need for safe drinking water. Filter has been conceptualized, designed, built and tested against one of the top spiral wound membranes currently on the market.  

His supervisor for his research was Associate Professor Ron Cox; Governor, Australian Climate Change Adaptation Research Network for Settlements and Infrastructure; School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. 

A patent for the technology has subsequently been lodged with the U.S Patents and Trademark Office: U.S. Provisional Patent Application Nos. 62266278 and 62295794, with an original filing date of 11th December 2015.

His role as Technical Director of Opala Water Pty, Ltd. (2013), and my research work on providing an alternative RO filter solution to reverse osmosis desalination has provided him with a much more detailed understanding of water treatment plants and alternative systems over the past years to improve energy efficiency.

Project Manager on 400-hectare project for Emaar Misr Properties, Cairo Egypt. Construction totaled 4.4 billion US Dollars (of which responsible for 1 billion Dollars of project) which included multiple structures from residential villages, commercial facilities and golf course. Responsible for initiating and managing the Integrated Design and Construction Works Program for Infrastructure. Influenced and managed a cost saving of over $170 Million US Dollars for the project. This included the design and build contract for the water treatment works of the development.

Senior Construction Manager on a 35-hectare landmark project for the Qatar National Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage. Construction totalled 400 million US Dollars which included 45,000-meter square building development, incorporating Museum infrastructure and park surroundings. Construction works included major marine engineering and land reclamation, vehicle and pedestrian bridges. Responsible for all construction management activities.Â
